WELCOME TO MY 8-DAY
JUDO
COPYWRITING TRAINING
DAY 1
The Bow-In (Welcome + Stance)
In judo you don’t win by being stronger, you win by controlling the very first grip… and in copywriting the fight is over before it starts if you don’t lock in your prospect’s sleeve and collar in the first 5 seconds.
You just stepped onto the mat with a 70-year-old black belt who’s
made over $100M writing direct-response copy. If you do what most copywriters do, you’re going to stand straight up… and get wrecked.
Because I’m taking you straight to the ground.
Fact is, if you don’t grab them, you can’t throw them. This applies to copywriting as well. "Grab them by the throat!"
Today’s Throw:
The Audience Grip
If you don’t have their sleeve and collar in the first 5 seconds, you’re already airborne and landing flat on your back.
Your 10-minute mission: Get a death-grip on your prospect.
Fill in the blank:“My prospect is a [age] [gender] [profession/struggle] who wants [dream outcome] but is stuck on [specific obstacle] and secretly fears [deep fear].”
Example — straight from a $23M control, “The Great Retirement Betrayal”:“
My reader is 50 years old or
older, worried about their retirement, unsure what to do next, and fears they’ll run out of money. They feel the odds are stacked against them.
Without a crystal-clear Audience Grip, you’ve already hit the ground.
Oss!
