I was working for an investment newsletter publisher, earning $200 a day, which, at the time, felt pretty good. I had
steady work, a decent paycheck, and I thought I was doing well.
But then I learned that writers in New York were being paid $25,000 per project—*plus* royalties. It was like a slap in the face. I suddenly realized I was playing small, settling for a fraction of what I was worth.
That’s when I made a promise to myself: I was going to
break into this game at the highest level. I was done accepting “good enough.” I wanted more, and I was willing to do whatever it took to get there.
I did. I made millions because of that one defining moment—because I recognized that I could do more, and I took the action to back it up.
