You are going to love this short story...
When the marketing director for a BIG NAME publisher called to tell me she was leaving, I congratulated her and asked, "Are you paying BIG NAME
COPYWRITER $25K plus a 5 cent royalty?"
She said. "YES." I said, "OK, thanks."
You see, I was only charging $12.5K and getting a 2.5 cent royalty.
He was getting paid double what I charged and I was getting similar--and sometimes--out performing the results as he was getting.
So I said to myself, "If he is getting paid that kind of money, when that's what I am going to get."
So when the new marketing director started, she asked about my fees. I matter-of-fact told her, "I charge the same as BIG NAME COPYWRITER-$25K plus a 5 cent royalty."
She said, "OK."
Cha-ching!
It was that easy...
That is how I doubled my price in one day.
