The really cool thing I liked about copywriting was the ability to work from home and make money.
The freedom it offered me was incredible.
I took my kids to and from school, coached their sports, went to jiu-jitsu at lunch (got a black belt), and had a meal on
the table by the time my wife got home from her job.
But the coolest thing of all, and I don’t mention this to brag, was the money I made! I really have to pinch myself.
I typed letters for a living and got paid like an author, making millions of dollars by writing sales letters, direct mail packages, emails, landing pages, and
video sales letters.
That was the best job on the planet.
The whole purpose of creating my coaching and mentoring program was designed to help other copywriters enjoy the same lifestyle that I enjoyed.
Today, life never tasted sweeter; my home and cars are all paid off, the kids'
college careers were funded by copywriting. I have the freedom to do what I want, when I want—with nothing to stand in my way.
Now I spend my time sharing my ideas, selling breakdowns of my samples, and coaching up-and-coming copywriters on the techniques I have developed that have made me a million-dollar copywriter.
In a way, I feel
a strong obligation to do this.

It grabs your reader by the throat and gently persuades them not to read the whole thing, but the next line.
That is where most copywriters foul up. You see, nobody really reads the whole thing. They skim.
So your subheads, visuals, and opening lines must be so appealing that the reader simply can't resist—like a cookie to a dog.

It funnels you down the page in a way, as my mentor Richard Stanton-Jones said, makes the reader “Do a swan dive to the order form.”
Before I go on, the experts on the Internet talk about marketing funnels.
But remember this:
Your copy
is the ORIGINAL funnel—one that funnels the reader right down to the order form. In fact, this letter too, is a bit of a funnel!
