You have not properly targeted what your clients want or need.
This is why your open rates are so low.
Just like an advertising headline, they are the deciding factor for whether someone opens your email or sends it straight to the trash.
If you are having a hard time getting prospects to open your email, this is the
culprit. But I'll bet you already knew that.
But what you may not know is how to grab your readers by the throat and get them to open them.
So, what makes a good—no, make that great—subject line?
It should be clear, concise, and relevant to the recipient.
It should solve a pain point or create an opportunity, and
It should be engaging and create a sense of urgency.
If you are missing any three of those ingredients, your email will go directly into their mental spam box.
Since I don't know what you are selling or what your customers want, I can't give you specific examples that apply to you.
But I can tell you about one of my greatest examples of a winning headline: "The Great Retirement Betrayal."
Let me explain what made it so persuasive and powerful:
Emotional appeal: By using the word "betrayal," the headline appeals to emotions and creates a strong emotional connection with the reader.
Urgency: The headline suggests that there is a significant issue related to retirement
that needs to be addressed, creating a sense of urgency for the reader to learn more.
Provocative: The use of the word "betrayal" is provocative and challenges the reader to question the status quo, making them more likely to engage with the content.
Attention-grabbing: The headline is attention-grabbing and stands out from other headlines that might be more straightforward or
generic.
Memorable: The headline is memorable and sticks with the reader, making it more likely that they will remember the content and share it with others.
If you would like to increase the opens of your emails, then I would suggest that you put the same kind of knowledge and research into your subject lines.
