How to Write a Big Money Email

The first is to make sure you are always selling what somebody wants. Nobody buys what they don't want. So that is a must.
It's a simple thought, to be sure.
But it is often forgotten.
I learned long ago never to accept marketing challenges. I would be brought in on a tough-to-sell product. Guess what I discovered?
It was tough to sell. So a lot of time was wasted on something that no one really wanted.
Avoid that.
That experience brought me to work with financial newsletters. As I discovered, there is nothing easier to sell than making money to people who already have it.
Cha-ching.
The beauty of working in that field these people are always looking for ways to make the big bucks.

I got really good at it. I mean REALLY good.
My copy sold over $100 million worth of subscriptions over the 30 years, and that number could be low because I lost count years ago.
All I know is that in 90 days I would be cashing six-digit royalty checks from writing money-making emails.
What was my secret?
The knowledge that stock investors are like gold miners. They are always trying to dig through the dirt to get to the gold.
I also knew they read the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Forbes and watched all the financial TV shows.
I also knew they had a walking-around knowledge of sales, earnings, new product development, and growing market share.
I would use those "nuggets" of information to attract their attention like a cookie to a dog. When I dropped those cookies in the headline, they would come running.
I would drop them every few sentences to keep them reading to the end.

I would tell them EVERYTHING about the stock that would make them rich except the name. To get the name, they had to whip out their credit card to buy.
I would get readers so salivating for this information, that they, as my published would put it, would "do a swan dive to the order form."
I can't tell you how much I loved this business. I seemed to have quite the knack for it.
Nor can I tell you how exciting it was to write one of these emails and see the orders piling up over and over and over again.
The funny part is that writing financial copy isn't that hard.
It's got to be the easiest job on the planet.
